Two Killed and 10 injured after a roadway collapsed in Mississippi

Two people were killed and at least 10 others were hurt after a roadway collapsed in Mississippi last night and drivers plunged into the deep hole.

Officials say 2 people died and 10 people were injured (3 critically) when Highway 26 in Lucedale, MS washed away from Hurricane Ida, creating a huge hole 50 ft. wide and 20 ft. deep.

Highway 26 in George County west of Lucedale collapsed around 20 to 30 feet deep and 50 to 60 feet in length.

Torrential rains from Hurricane Ida may have caused the collapse.

Troopers say the drivers did not see that the roadway in front of them had disappeared.
