Former President Donald Trump released a scathing statement on Biden’s abrupt withdrawal from Afghanistan; saying the current Commander-in-Chief should “resign in disgrace.”
“It is time for Joe Biden to resign in disgrace for what he has allowed to happen to Afghanistan, along with the tremendous surge in COVID, the Border catastrophe, the destruction of energy independence, and our crippled economy,” the former president wrote in a statement.
Chaotic scenes unfolded across Afghanistan Monday as American forces withdraw from the country after two decades of combat, including violence at Kabul’s main airport that left at least five people dead.
“The morning after the Taliban installed themselves in the presidential palace in Kabul, seizing control over Afghanistan two decades after being toppled from power by the U.S. military, fears intensified on Monday about a return to the Taliban’s brutal rule and the threat of reprisal killings,” reports the New York Times.
“Kabul’s international airport was under the protection of foreign forces, including thousands of U.S. soldiers sent to the country to assist in a hasty evacuation. It was a scene of desperation, sadness and panic,” adds the newspaper.
