Threats of retaliation in case of attack on Pentagon evacuation operation

The Pentagon has threatened to retaliate in the event of an attack on Kabul Airport during an ongoing US evacuation operation.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby told US media that they were working to control the security situation at Kabul airport.

He said that about three and a half thousand military personnel are stationed at Kabul Airport.

John Kirby described his ability to evacuate people from Kabul, saying the United States could evacuate 5,000 to 9,000 people a day.

A Pentagon spokesman warned that appropriate action would be taken in the event of an airport operation or an attack on civilians.
