Teen fatally shot as he sits in parked vehicle on Brooklyn street
A teen was fatally shot twice in the chest while sitting in a parked vehicle in Brooklyn early Sunday, cops said.
Police responded to ShotSpotter alert at 796 Greene Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant at 2:18 a.m., but the 18-year-old fatally shot man had already been taken to Woodhull Hospital by private means, police said. The man was pronounced dead there a short time later, cops said.
Police said an investigation found that he was shot while in a parked vehicle at the address. Police had no motive and were not immediately releasing his name.
“I hate to say it, typical day in Brooklyn,” said neighbor Ali Garner, 52, who lives across the street and heard the gunshots. Even so, she said, she hasn’t seen much violence on the block.
“The gun laws here are pretty good, it’s just the guns coming in. If they could find a way to stop that I think that would resolve a lot of their problems,” she said. “It’s guns coming in from out of state, that’s the bottom line.”
Cops found three shell casings on the scene, police sources said.
