Search for Brian Laundrie to resume on Saturday in ‘areas of more likelihood’

The search for Brian is set to resume on Saturday morning, after police ended the “major” part of their search on Friday evening, a spokesperson said.

North Port police spokesperson Josh Taylor announced that Saturday and Sunday’s investigative efforts in the Carlton Reserve would focus on “areas of more likelihood”.

Mr Taylor added that local law enforcement would not be providing regular updates on the search over the weekend, unless something of note was discovered.

Authorities have not said why they are convinced that Mr Laundrie may still be somewhere inside the more than 24,000-acre nature preserve more than a week after he told family members he was headed there to hike alone.

The Carlton Reserve has more than 80 miles of hiking trails but is dominated by swampy water.
