Now 27 percent reservation for OBC and 10 percent reservation for economically weaker section students in medical admission, the government approved

The central government has approved reservation for OBC and economically weaker section students in admission to medical colleges. Now in the admission of graduate ie MBBS, BDS and post graduate, diploma level medical courses, 27 percent reservation will be given to the students of Other Backward Classes i.e. OBC (Other Backward Classes) while 10 percent reservation will be given to the students of economically weaker sections. The current decision will be applicable from the current academic session 2021-22 under the All India Reservation Scheme.

Let us tell you that the demand for reservation for OBCs in the seats of All India quota for medical admission was being made long back. Anupriya Patel and other OBC MPs and ministers led by Union Labor and Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav, Union Steel Minister RCP Singh met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday on the issue. These Union ministers had drawn the attention of the government to the discrepancy in reservation.

Earlier, reservation was not being given to OBCs in the All India quota related to admission in medical colleges. In this All India quota related to admission in medical colleges, only SC-ST were being given reservation. On this issue, the demand for change was raised by the OBC MPs.

Under the leadership of BJP MP Ganesh Singh, OBC MPs had demanded reservation in All India quota related to medical admission. OBC MPs had appealed to Prime Minister Modi that the system of reservation for OBCs and EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) fixed under the Constitution should also be implemented in the All India quota related to medical admission.

In an official statement issued by the Union Health Ministry, it has been said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a meeting held on Monday had directed the concerned central ministries for effective resolution of this long pending issue. After this decision, OBC students across the country will now be able to get the benefit of this reservation under the All India Reservation Scheme in any state. After the decision of the central government, the central list related to OBC will be used for this reservation.
