Boy, 13, is arrested on suspicion of murder after father Dariusz Wolosz, 46, was stabbed to death in west London ‘during trip to the shop to buy cigarettes’

Dariusz Wolosz was attacked in the early hours of Tuesday, January 4 in Yiewsley, West Drayton

A 13-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a 46-year-old man in west London.

On Tuesday, January 4, Dariusz Wolosz was attacked in Yiewsley, West Drayton.

According to his family, 46-year-old Polish national Mariusz Jankowski was returning home in the early hours of the morning after going to the shop to buy cigarettes when he was attacked.

Police and paramedics battled for more than half an hour to save Mr Wolosz’s life, however he was pronounced dead at 12.43am.

The boy was arrested yesterday and remains in custody.

A post-mortem established Mr Wolosz had died from stab wounds to the groin and the chest.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to come forward. They are asking people with dashcam footage to contact them.

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley of the Metropolitan Police Specialist Crime Unit said, “We believe Dariusz was attacked by a group of males in Tavistock Road following a verbal dispute. The group then fled in different directions.”

The area was crowded with people at the time, as there was a lot of traffic and drivers nearby could have recorded dashcam footage of the incident.

We are devastated by Dariusz’s death and we are doing everything in our power to support his family.

‘I urge local people to check any doorbell and dash cameras to check them; you may have captured something that could be very significant for us.’

Scotland Yard said: ‘Anyone who has information is asked to call 101 or tweet @MetCC, giving the reference 0063/04JAN.

‘Information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.’
